64. How does Faxxis Voicemail work?

You can configure your Faxxis account to receive both fax and voice messages, or you can configure your account to receive voicemail only. When callers dial your Faxxis number, a default voice greeting is played, or you can record a custom voice greeting. If you have both voicemail and fax activated, the caller will then be instructed to press 1 to leave a voice message. If a fax call comes in, Faxxis will automatically detect the incoming fax and switch into fax mode.

Voice messages are delivered to your e-mail address as WAV file attachments. You can also dial in to your Faxxis number to listen to voice messages and check for new faxes over the telephone.

Log in to your Account at the Faxxis website and click on 'Settings' on the left side of the page. To activate voicemail, select the radio buttons Mailbox: 'Fax and Voicemail' or 'Fax Only' from the menu. To disable voicemail, select 'Fax Only'. Click 'Save' to save settings.

66. How do I open and listen to voice messages on my computer?

Voice messages will arrive at your e-mail address as an e-mail message with an attached WAV file. The attached file is your voice message. Most users can just double click on the attachment to open it, which should open your voice message up using an audio player program you have installed on your computer.

You can also open a voicemail from within your account at the Faxxis website. Click on the voicemail in your Inbox to open up the voicemail. This feature allows you to access your voicemail when you are away from your e-mail, but you must still have the proper software loaded to listen to voicemail in this manner.

Web-based email users (such as AOL, Hotmail Yahoo mail, etc.) must first save attachments to hard disk before opening them. When you receive an e-mail attachment on your web-based mail account, click the "Download Now" button. You will be prompted to choose the folder on your computer where you want to put the attachment after downloading it. If you do not choose a folder and just click 'Save'.

68. I am trying to open a voice message, but the wrong program is launching when I click on a voice message attachment to open the message and listen to it.

Try choosing the save option instead of the open option when you click on the file attachment. This will save the file to your computer's hard drive instead of opening it directly. Open up your audio player software separately and then open the voice message from within the audio player software by selecting "Open" from the File menu in the audio player program.

If you would like to set up your computer to automatically open audio files using a certain audio player program, please contact the vendor of the audio player for help in getting your file association settings configured correctly.

69. My voice message arrived with no attachment.

If a voice message arrives with no attached file to open, make sure you don't have any filters or blocks on incoming attachments, or that your e-mail provider does not automatically quarantine all incoming attachments to check for viruses. Then, try re-sending the message from your activity log in the "Account Administration" section. If the attachment still does not appear with the e-mail, please contact Faxxis Customer Support .
